READY TO PRODUCE YOUR OWN SHOW?

  • Ask yourself: Do I have - money, time or energy. If you have any of it, don't hesitate, just do it.
  • People help people: Beg your friends to be in your team. Be specific - how can they help you? Don't leave a long message or a long e-mail. Time is everyone's money. Be charming & humble.  Appreciate their time.
  • Set Goals and Time limit. Conquer at least 3 goals to make the project happen each day.  Do the hardest things first.
  • Getting stressed? Getting unpleasant? Don't be afraid to just walk away. Never too late to re-start from the begining to do it right.
  • Work hard. Work harder than anyone in your team. Use 120% of your capability to grow. You can do sleeping and bitching after you die.
  • Test market the production. Do readings or a short dark night run presentation. Don't pay attention to compliments - compliments never kill anyone but criticism can.  Your project is your baby.  No matter how ugly a baby is, people won't say it - especially to his parents.
  • The worse enermy of progress is "GOOD." Good is not good enough. Never compromise. Each production needs to be better than the last one. Failure happens only if you give up before success.
  • Keep Feng Suei-ing your staff. Cleaning the team to make the production flow easier. Never lower your standard.  If you have a downer boyfriend, girlfriend or spouse, do not bring them in to the production team, leave them home with a TV on.  Keep the drama on stage, not anywhere else.
  • "Be here now" is a bull.  Know where you are going with your production.  Pay attention to your audience and see if you are getting what you expected.  Getting laugh is not always the best thing.  Know how you want to engage your audience.
  • After the production, give yourself a credit that you "did" it, while many of us just "think" about doing it. Don't rest and do it again - as long as you are getting joy out of it.

Be involved with the people with the live hearts, the live eyes, who are committed to something. ... Chapin
